ABOUT THE LEAGUE
The Atlantic Football League (AFL) was founded in 2009 between the Moncton Raiders, UNBF Red Bombers (now known as Reds), and UNBSJ Seawolves to fill a gap for high school graduating football players who were not moving into a USports University. In 2010 the Dalhousie Tigers and Holland College Hurricanes joined the AFL, and the Moncton Raiders were renamed the Mustang Jr. Mustangs. Before the commencement of the 2011 season, the Moncton Jr. Mustangs franchise folded. The Seawolves affiliation with UNBSJ was dissolved after the 2022 season. In 2024, a new community-based team out of Saint John, New Brunswick entered into the league, the Saint John Falcons.

The AFL is set to complete their 17th Season of play on September 13th, 2025. There are currently 4 teams, the UNB Reds, Dalhousie Tigers, Holland College Hurricanes, and Saint John Falcons.
